This year, our Annual Meeting falls on the same day as the Day of Action on Wednesday, April 29, 2026. For occasional teachers in particular, it is not often that we are all in the same place at the same time. Let’s take advantage of this moment. Your presence matters, and being together strengthens our collective voice in a powerful way.Members are encouraged to wear your button or sticker starting on the Day of Action as a visible sign of solidarity and commitment. If you do not have one yet, visit any Upper Grand school and connect with the school steward, they will have extras available.Public education is facing growing challenges, and this is a moment where we can stand together and be heard. Central bargaining gives us a real opportunity to advocate for better conditions for students and educators. Building momentum now is essential.Since 2018, significant cuts to public education have led to fewer supports for students, increased safety concerns, and heavier workloads for educators. We know that meaningful investment can change this. With proper funding, we can achieve:• More special education and mental health supports• Stable staffing and safer workplaces• Smaller class sizes and stronger learning environmentsThese improvements mean more connection, more inclusion, and better outcomes for every student.If you are unable to attend our Annual Meeting, there are still many ways to show your support. Wear your button or sticker, connect with colleagues, and take part in actions in your own workplace or community.
